Organic Matter Andits Relation With Uranium Mineralization In Carbonate-Type Uranium Deposits In South China
Abstract:Carbonate-type uranium deposits, widely distributed in south China, occur in lots of sequences of the Devonian-Permian strata, and are controlled combinedly by such factors as lithologic facies, faults, fissures and hydrogeochemical conditions. The mineralization is in close relation with organic matter which, in turn, is governed by lagoonal facies zone. This paper points out that the organic matter is of sapropel type. In the ores 21-64 per cent, of uranium is directly related to organic matter, mainly humic acid and fulvic acid, and the remaining part also has something to do with these acids in space. This shows that the organic matter of sapropel type likewise played an important role in Uranium mineralization. The process took place in both early sedimentary- diagenetic stage and eigenetic stage.
